World of Warcraft: Legion is the sixth expansion for World of Warcraft, announced by Blizzard Entertainment at Gamescom 2015 on August 5, 2015, in Köln, Germany. World of Warcraft: Legion became available for pre-order on November 6, 2015, and released worldwide on August 30, 2016.

Those who pre-ordered got access to a Level 100 Boost, and early access to the new Demon Hunter class as of August 9, 2016.

There are several new features and locations added to this expansion to add to the already-existing content of World of Warcraft.

General changes

  • Players will no longer be limited to 2 specs per character and will be able to choose any spec for that class, which means that a player can pursue all the artifact weapons for that class. Players will no longer require reagents to switch spec, nor will there be a fee.
  • Players will be restricted in how often they can change talents. They must either be in a "Rested" area or be within range of a special item that allows an area of players in a non-rested area to re-spec freely for a limited time.
  • Transmogrification options will be account-wide, similar in principle to Diablo III; as soon as an item is bound to a player, that item's appearance is saved under the Wardrobe, and can then be used by players that match that armor type. When players log in to World of Warcraft: Legion for the first time, the system will see what quests that character has ever completed, and all gear that was ever offered as a quest reward from those quests will be automatically unlocked for use in the Wardrobe, even if it was never chosen as a reward from that quest.
    • The Player's class must be able to equip the appearance as their primary gear type for it to be available for that character to add to their collection.
      • Cloth armor appearances can only be unlocked and used by Mages, Warlocks, and Priests.
      • Leather armor appearances can only be unlocked and used by Monks, Rogues, Druids and Demon Hunters.
      • Mail armor appearances can only be unlocked and used by Hunters and Shamans.
      • Plate armor appearances can only be unlocked and used by Warriors, Paladins and Death Knights.
  • Professions will be getting recipes that can have different levels, and the UI has been upgraded. The new UI shows both learned and unlearned recipes, as well we detailing where recipes can be obtained.
  • All pre-Mists of Pandaria quests will now offer specialization-appropriate gear.
  • Major Glyphs as well as many Minor Glyphs are being removed from the game.
  • There will be no new Battleground in this expansion.
  • An additional character slot will be added (for a total of twelve per server), so players can roll a Demon Hunter without having to delete a character to make room.
  • Players will be able to hide Shoulders and Helms.
  • Dalaran has been upgraded since players last visited.
  • Certain common shirts have become bind on equip with uncommon rarity.

Class Changes

  • Combat Rogues have now been changed to Outlaw Rogues, and specialise in the use of pistols.
  • Gnomes can now be Hunters.
  • Survival Hunters are now a melee class.
  • Shadow Priests will get a new resource that replaces Mana and Shadow Orbs: Insanity.
  • Demonology Warlocks were reworked.
  • Druids are getting an updated underwater travel form model.
