A electronic device that communicates with a main device without wires. This could be through Bluetooth, RF, or Infrared.

The first wireless game controller was released for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis in the 1990s. The concept was later revived in the early 2000s by the Nintendo GameCube when the Wavebird controller was released for it. Since then, every game console has used wireless controllers.
