Magic: The Gathering Arena (also Magic Arena or MTGA) is the upcoming digital free-to-play Magic video game developed by Wizards of the Coast's Digital Games Studio. It is currently in open beta development phase (October, 2018).

Play Modes

Apart from continuous play modes in form of free play and ladder play Magic Arena also offers a variety of rotating and one-time events. These can have changes in game settings (e.g. Exploration), formats, requirements for played decks, matches per game, entry fees and rewards.

History of Development

  • September 2017: Alpha version revealed
  • December 2017: Start of closed beta (under NDA)
  • March 2018: NDA lifted
  • September 2018: Start of open beta
