Dungeon Inquisitor is an MMORPG browser-based game released in 2011 that incorporates advanced natural language processing technology in its interrogation process of prisoners.[1] This game features on the major game platform Kongregate and has over 40,000 players worldwide. In this game, the player is an inquisitor that captures humans and turns them into undead minions in his very own dungeon.

Gameplay[ | ]

Players first complete the tutorial. Players then proceed to building rooms, catching prisoners and constructing your very own army of undead minions. The better the player's army is, the stronger the prisoners they can catch. The strongest human armies are the lord armies, which may even be 200 or more in army size. Players must tame prisoners before you can summon them to become their minions. This is done through interrogation, and in this process players may find out that the items they carry are lures for stronger human parties. Luring humans requires soul, while ransoming humans generates gold which is needed to pay the army's wages. There are also weekly contests, which are a source of extra gold and prestige, though this is just a side feature that players may choose to ignore.

Rooms[ | ]

The most important room is the Dungeon Heart, as it increases the rate of gold and soul regeneration and increases the upper soul limit too. The prison holds captured humans, whereas the living area contains the undead minions. The barracks are essential for upgrading most of the player's units, whereas the library is needed to upgrade mages and healers. The treasure room is where players store their items. The torture chamber helps in taming humans, while the hospital increases the rate of human blood recovery so that players can torture him again to drain the blood out of him. The portal determines how many people the player can follow, whereas the throne enables players to receive reinforcement troops from other players. The pitfall needs to be destroyed before the human melee units can proceed further, whereas the workshop helps repair broken pitfalls.

Creatures[ | ]

The most basic melee unit is the imp, followed by the skeleton soldier, corpse soldier, and dark knight. Archers include skeleton archers, which primarily target mages and healers and corpse archers, which target archers first. Mages target melee units, and magic damage penetrates armour, ignoring the defence statistic. Mistresses stun other units into making them sleep for one turn. Healers heal other units, and sometimes themselves. The dark lord gives a boost to the units based on its own statistics.

Ranking system[ | ]

Players are currently ranked based on their prestige, which is gained through contests and attacking other players, and number of followers.[2] It is generally advised to attack inactive players who have already left the game.
