AAAUUGH! This hurts my brain so much. Okay here's the plan:
- The current contents of Category:Genres is moved to Category:Video game genres
- Computer_and_video_game_genres is merged into Category:Video game genres
- Remove cross-genres: articles in Action-adventure should just be in Action and Adventure, separately
- Weed out excess genres: Category:Beat 'em up is probably just fighting games, or fighting + adventure games
- Existing categories should be renamed to reflect that they are VIDEO GAMES. "Category:Shooter" => "Category:Shooting video games" (which should probably be split into "2d shooter", "third-person shooter", and "first-person shooter".
It would be very, very nice to have a tool to a) show articles which are intersections between multiple categories (Action + Adventure = action adventure). Alternatively, a tool to generate "fake" categories (action-adventure, action-RPG, etc) would be barely acceptable: it would be much better to keep things cleanly categorized.
I have noticed Genres can be very convoluted. How are noob users supposed to know that "Xbox games" is not a genre, but "Western games" and "Shooter games" are? Perhaps we should make a genre namespace, or something along those lines.

Not a good idea!
- The current contents of Category:Genres is moved to Category:Video game genres<==These are the categories in a genre why would anyone want to write more text for reference
- Computer_and_video_game_genres is merged into Category:Video game genres<==This is the article so it should just be left in category genre because it is its own main page for genres
- Remove cross-genres: articles in Action-adventure should just be in Action and Adventure, separately
- Weed out excess genres: Category:Beat 'em up is probably just fighting games, or fighting + adventure games <==Beat em up is its own genre. Genres are describable things and specific. For example: Streets of Rage is different from Street Fighter by gameplay thus beat em up is its own genre
- Existing categories should be renamed to reflect that they are VIDEO GAMES. (Why? this is a gaming site it is implied)"Category:Shooter" => "Category:Shooting video games" (which should probably be split into "2d shooter", "third-person shooter", and "first-person shooter". (We are not wikipedia)
I have noticed Genres can be very convoluted. How are noob users supposed to know that "Xbox games"<==This problem only occurs when N00bs do not know the definition of genre. If anyone is having this trouble PLEASE refer to a dictionary or wikipedia is not a genre, but "Western games" and "Shooter games" are? Perhaps we should make a genre namespace, or something along those lines.
